Applesauce

A simple but delicious take on applesauce that brings the freshness of the season to your table

Ingredients

  • 3 pounds of apples, use a mix of types
  • ½ cup water
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon cloves, allspice or ginger - you choose

Directions

  1. Peel, core and chop the apples into 2 inch pieces.
  2. Put them in a pot, add the water and turn the heat to medium high.
  3. Bring to a boil, stir then turn the heat to low and cover the pot.
  4. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the apples are tender, about 10-15 minutes.
  5. At this point, most of the water will have cooked off.
  6. Mash the apples with a fork or potato masher to desired consistency. If the mixture is too thick, add a little more water.
  7. Add the spices and stir well to combine. Taste and add more if desired.
  8. Serve warm, room temperature or cold.
