Pear Apple Sauce
This simple homemade fruit sauce combines sweet apples and pears with warm cinnamon and vanilla. It’s a perfect recipe for late summer and early fall, when apples and pears are coming into season!

Ingredients
- 3 ripe pears, cut into quarters, core removed, then chopped into small chunks
- 2 large apples, cut into quarters, core removed, then chopped into small chunks
- 6 tablespoons water
- ¾ teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
Directions
- Cut each pear and apple into 4 pieces.
- Carefully cut out the hard middle section and remove the seeds.
- Cut each piece into small chunks about 1 inch wide.
- Place a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the 3 chopped pears, 2 chopped apples, 6 tablespoons water, and ¾ teaspoon vanilla extract.
- Stir everything together.
- Cover the skillet and let the fruit simmer for 10 minutes.
- Carefully remove the lid and stir the fruit.
- Continue cooking uncovered for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples and pears are very soft and most of the water has cooked away.
- Remove the skillet from the heat.
- Carefully transfer the cooked fruit and any liquid left in the pan to a large bowl.
- Use an immersion blender to blend the fruit until smooth.
- Add ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon and stir until combined.
- Serve warm
