Born and raised by Nicaraguan parents who emigrated to California in the 1940s, Karla has always believed that sharing food is one of the most important ways to connect with others. Karla grew up with many traditions and customs, many centering around food and its preparation. Throughout her career working with children, youth, and their families in the San Francisco, Karla has stressed the importance of people having regular access to enough high-quality food to lead active, healthy lives. She is a proud Latina small business owner and Founder of a packaged food company that makes premium salsas and cooking sauces.
