Very Berry Smoothie

A smoothie is a great snack or supplement to a healthy breakfast or lunch. This is always a hit in our classes.

Ingredients

  • 2 cup orange juice
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup frozen blueberries or raspberries
  • 1 cup frozen blackberries
  • 1 cup frozen strawberries
  • 1 teaspoon honey, optional

Directions

  1. Measure all the ingredients into the jar of a blender.
  2. Put on the lid and turn the blender on,
  3. Gradually increase the speed, if that’s an option, or turn the blender to the “smoothie” setting..
  4. Add more juice or water if needed to blend everything to a creamy, smooth consistency.
  5. Taste and add a little honey if needed, then blend again.
  6. Pour into glasses and serve immediately.

Notes

Substitution and variations

  • Try adding a banana in place of one type of berry
  • Add a handful of fresh spinach leaves to the mix
  • Try adding an apple 
  • For a different take - use a banana, ¾ cup each of strawberries, mango (frozen is ok) and non-fat milk and 2 cups of spinach. It will be emerald green but taste like paradise.
